All content on this site is written or reviewed by Josh Stoneking, owner of Woodchuck Millwork. Josh has spent 10 years building cedar fences, decks, and pergolas across the North Dallas suburbs.
How we source numbers
Cost ranges quoted on this site reflect our recent DFW project averages from 2024–2025 unless otherwise noted. Final quotes vary based on site access, materials availability, design complexity, and current lumber pricing. Resource articles cite third-party sources where possible (manufacturer spec sheets, city ordinance pages, industry trade publications); see the Sources section at the bottom of each post.
What we don't do
- Fabricated reviews or testimonials. Every review of our work is on a third-party platform we don't control. We don't write fake reviews or display stock testimonials.
- Affiliate fake-news. When we name a brand (Trex, TimberTech, Huemiller, Blum), it's because we install or use that product on real jobs. We don't accept payment in exchange for product recommendations.
- Unverifiable badges. "BBB A+" claims, "5-Star Rated" graphics without an underlying source, "#1 in Allen" claims without a supporting list — we don't display them. We only show credentials we can defend with a link.
Disclosure
Woodchuck Millwork does not accept payment in exchange for product recommendations. When we name a brand on this site (cedar mill, composite manufacturer, stain product, hardware brand), it reflects what we've installed or evaluated on real client projects. We have no current affiliate relationships, sponsored content, or paid partnerships with any of the manufacturers mentioned on this site.
Update cadence
- Resource posts: reviewed every 6 months. Last-modified dates visible on each article.
- Pricing references: updated when DFW materials cost shifts materially.
- Permit guides: reviewed annually or when a city's code changes.
- Contact and hours information: maintained on every change.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error on this site — a wrong permit cost, an out-of-date materials spec, anything — email woodchuckmillwork@gmail.com and we'll fix it within one business week.
